Die Filmpremieren vom Tribeca Filmfestival sind ab sofort in der App "Oculus TV" verfügbar. Die gibt es nur für Oculus Quest und Oculus Go - Rift-Nutzer müssen leider verzichten.
Oculus TV ist kostenlos im App-Store für Oculus Go und im Oculus Quest Store verfügbar. Auch die VR-Filme vom Filmfestival sind kostenlos.
Ein VR-Filmhighlight vom letzten Tribeca Filmfestival ist "The Key". Der interaktive Kurzfilm wird in raumfüllender VR erzählt und ist ebenfalls kostenlos für Oculus Quest und Rift verfügbar, muss jedoch als eigenständige App heruntergeladen werden.

Das Tribeca Film Festival wurde wegen der Corona-Krise auf den Herbst verschoben. Im April übertragen die Veranstalter eine Auswahl ihres immersiven Festivalprogramms in Oculus TV.
Das Ersatzformat wurde in Kooperation mit Oculus auf die Beine gestellt und hört auf den Namen Cinema360. Es umfasst 15 VR-Filme, die sich in vier 30- bis 40-minütige Programme teilen (siehe vollständige Liste unten).
Die Filme werden vom 17. bis 25. April in Oculus TV zu sehen sein. Bei zehn der Filme handelt es sich um Weltpremieren.
Die Veranstalter haben eine Liste aller VR-Installationen erstellt, die Teil des Festivalprogramms sind, aber nicht via Oculus TV ausgestrahlt werden können. Die VR-Installationen sollen im Herbst auf dem Fiestival zu sehen sein.
VR-Film "The Key" erscheint für Oculus-Brillen
Oculus kündigt aus gegebenem Anlass die baldige Veröffentlichung des preisgekrönten VR-Films "The Key" an. Er wird als eigenständige App für Oculus Quest und Oculus Rift (S) erscheinen.
Der VR-Film entstand aus einer Kooperation mit der Non-Profit-Organisation Friends of Refugees und Oculus' VR for Good und feierte 2019 auf dem Tribeca Filmfestival Premiere, wo er den Tribeca Storyscapes Award gewann.
Später wurde der VR-Film mit einem Goldenen Löwen der Internationalen Filmfestspiele von Venedig in der Kategorie Virtual Reality ausgezeichnet. Unsere Gastautorin Pola Weiß hat eine ausführliche Kritik zu The Key geschrieben.

Based on the story Forgotten Kiss by Russian writer Alexander Kuprin, this film tells the beautiful legend of a royal prince, who was kissed by the magic Fairy of the Spring Night. As the prince grew up he kept looking for something incomprehensible, something completely forgotten: the forgotten kiss of the fairy.
Rain Fruits (World Premiere)—South Korea

Ex-military security guard, Mr. S works for a bank and leads the life of a normal working-class man. He fantasizes about a major heist, a dream that becomes reality. This VR film uses abstract metaphor combined with a unique hand-painted art style to create an intense thriller.

It’s Sunday afternoon and an exhausted daddy lies on the couch. Annoyed with his daughter’s pestering pleas to play, he falls asleep and wakes up to find her missing. Sensing something awry, daddy quickly realizes that the answer to the mystery lies in her seemingly abandoned dollhouse.

We were founded after the devastation of 9/11 and it’s in our DNA to bring communities together through the arts.”
